Susan Altemus, RN

Susan attended nursing school in Auckland, New Zealand, and, following graduation, worked as a staff nurse in the burn, orthopedic, and obstetrical units there. She was an emergency room charge nurse for five years and was then recruited for an intensive care unit position in the Texas Medical Center. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s.
While raising her family, Susan served in a number of volunter organizations, including the Medical Center Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, and the Special Olympics.
She joined the staff of Personal Physician Group, LLP in 2002, bringing to the practice her organizational skills and ability to connect with patients. Susan’s particular medical interests include sudden death and its impact on families and hospital staff, end-of-life care issues, pain control, and patient advocacy.
