Mandy Smith, PT, NDT, CLT
Director of Physical Therapy
Mandy joined Personal Physician Group early in 2007 and particularly enjoys working with PPG patients in their home environments where she can concentrate on follow-up care and continuity of treatment. She works with stroke and brain-injured patients and those who need neurologic and musculoskeletal therapies. Her philosophy of physical therapy is that mobility and increased ease of movement are the product of comfort and of time – that a patient who is trusting, mentally ready, and within his or her zone of comfort can accomplish much more than someone who is tense, anxious, and frightened of being hurt.
Always seeking outlets for her own creativity and new techniques to benefit her patients, Mandy is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), which consists of Decongestion and treatment of Lymphedema. She also is a Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) therapist with extensive experience in patients who have sustained strokes, brain injuries and other associated neurological diseases.
Mandy was a physical therapist at TIRR for more than 25 years, where she treated patients with a variety of neurological problems in both inpatient, outpatient and clinic settings. She also worked in TIRR’s polio clinic. Mandy is an outdoors person who gardens, fishes, and goes kayaking. She doesn’t believe in formal exercise but in exercise through activity.
