Maggie McQuigganMaggie McQuiggan MS RD is the dietitian/medical nutrition therapist for Personal Physician Group LLP. She has worked in clinical nutrition in the Texas Medical Center and has conducted and published clinical research in surgical nutrition. She has written articles and book chapters on clinical nutrition, lectured nationally to health care professionals, and taught at Houston Community College, Texas Woman’s University, the UT School of Public Health, and UT Medical School Houston.

Maggie is interested in the use of nutrition to prevent or modulate cardiovascular disease and diabetes. She advises patients on nutrition and supplement choice for activity and sport, healthy weight, and body composition. Her knowledge of surgical nutrition allows her to design effective individual pre- and post-surgical nutrition conditioning regimens, and her nutritional expertise is particularly useful in reducing treatment-related side effects for cancer patients.

She believes that eating should be a pleasurable experience and that food is one way that we love and care for our bodies. She enjoys working with patients to include the foods that are important to them in a healthy diet.

As a mindfulness and meditation practitioner and fitness professional, Maggie believes in the importance of exercise and activity in promoting health and longevity. She is involved in the newly created Exercise Is Medicine™ network. Her own fitness activities include triathlon, distance running, resistance training, skiing, and yoga, and she enjoys film, classical music, travel, and reading.
